What is NutrUp?

NutrUp is a food and symptom diary for iPhone. Photograph what you eat, tap how you feel, and in about two weeks it shows which foods your symptoms followed, with the evidence. No account, and your diary stays on your iPhone.

Who it's for

People whose gut reacts to something and can't work out what. Maybe you've tried keeping a food diary and it fell apart after a few days. Maybe a doctor or dietitian asked you to track meals and symptoms and you want notes that are actually useful at the next appointment. NutrUp makes the logging fast enough to keep going, then does the counting for you.

How it works

  1. Photograph the meal. NutrUp guesses the foods and shows how sure it is about each one. Strike out what's wrong, add what it missed. You can also just type it.
  2. Tap how you feel. Eight symptoms, from bloating and reflux to constipation and loose stool, each as mild, moderate or strong. Log it for when it happened, after a meal or not. Loose stool and constipation come with the Bristol scale. A check-in at 9 pm catches anything you missed, and a day with nothing wrong is one tap to mark clear.
  3. See what your symptoms followed. After about two weeks you get lines like "6 of 8 times you ate onion, bloating followed. Usually two to eight hours later." Foods that never line up show as clear.
  4. Try a food again. A step by step way to check one food on purpose instead of guessing.
  5. Bring it with you. Share the report with your doctor or dietitian, or export the whole diary as a CSV.

Nu, the little wave in the app, reacts as you log. It reports counts, delays and meals. It never praises or scolds a food.

Your data

There is no NutrUp account and no server of ours holds your diary. It lives on your iPhone. Photos are read on the phone. If you switch phones, the diary moves with an iCloud or computer backup, and you can export a CSV any time. More in the privacy policy.

Questions

Do I need a new iPhone?

Any iPhone on iOS 26 or later works. Reading photos needs an iPhone with Apple Intelligence on iOS 27. On any other, you type what you ate.

How long until I see something?

Usually about two weeks. Until there are enough meals with and without a food to compare, it shows as "not enough data".

What if the photo gets a food wrong?

Tap it to strike it out, or add the one it missed. Every guess is one tap to fix.

What can I log besides food?

Eight symptoms: bloating, pain, gas, urgency, loose stool, constipation, reflux and nausea, each as mild, moderate or strong. Loose stool and constipation come with the Bristol scale. You can mark a day as stressed or slept badly, and a day with nothing wrong as clear. Your symptoms, how strong they were and your Bristol readings all go in the report you can bring to your doctor or dietitian.

Can I log a symptom that didn't come after a meal?

Yes. Log it for when it happened, from now back to this time yesterday, whether or not you'd just eaten. Waking up bloated counts. If it was a clear day, the 9 pm check-in lets you say so without opening the app.
