See which foods your symptoms follow

With NutrUp Pro

After about two weeks: the foods your symptoms followed, the ones that are clear, and the meals behind each.

Logging a meal in NutrUp: a restaurant curry with white rice, chicken and curry paste, each with how sure NutrUp is, a struck-out guess of tomato, and the onion, garlic, cream and ghee a restaurant curry often has

Snap a meal. Fix any guess in one tap

Take a photo and NutrUp suggests what is on the plate, with how sure it is about each. Strike out a wrong guess, add what it missed, say how much. It asks about what you cannot see, like the onion and garlic in a restaurant curry.

The Lock Screen line in NutrUp: 3:28 since dinner, a restaurant curry, with Bloating, Pain, Reflux and Nothing to tap

Tap how you feel from the Lock Screen

For eight hours after a meal, its line is on your Lock Screen. Tap Bloating, Pain, Reflux or Nothing there without opening the app. Anything else, any time of day, is two taps in the app: eight symptoms in all, each mild, moderate or strong.

Questions

Good questions.

Is NutrUp medical advice?

No. NutrUp is a food and symptom diary. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. If your symptoms are severe or do not go away, see a doctor.

Can NutrUp tell me why I get bloated?

Not on its own. NutrUp shows which foods your symptoms followed, how often and how many hours later. That is a pattern, not a cause. If no food stands out after a few weeks, that is worth knowing too, because it can mean food is not the main thing going on. Either way, your diary is a good place to start a conversation with a doctor.

When should I see a doctor?

NutrUp is a diary, not a doctor. Some symptoms should not wait for two weeks of logging.

Call your local emergency number or go to the emergency room if your belly is swollen and:

  • you have severe belly pain that came on suddenly
  • you are vomiting blood, or your vomit looks like coffee grounds
  • you are struggling to breathe

Get an urgent appointment if you are bloated and:

  • you are vomiting, or have diarrhea or constipation
  • you have belly pain
  • you have a fever, or feel hot, cold or shivery
  • you can feel a lump or swelling in your belly
  • you cannot pass stool or gas, or cannot pee
  • you have a burning feeling in your chest from reflux

See a doctor if:

  • you are bloated often, or it does not go away
  • changing what you eat has not helped
  • you are losing weight without trying
  • there is blood in your stool

Adapted from NHS guidance on bloating.

Can I use NutrUp if I already see a doctor for my gut?

Yes. NutrUp keeps a record of what you ate, how you felt and when, which is what your doctor or dietitian will ask about. It does not change your care. With NutrUp Pro, the report puts it on one page you can bring to an appointment. If you are under a doctor's care, check with them before cutting foods out.

How much does it cost?

Logging meals, logging symptoms and CSV export are free, forever. NutrUp Pro adds which foods your symptoms followed and which were clear, On this plate, trying a food again and the report, for $12.99 a month or $59.99 a year in the US, with the first month free for new subscribers.

What do I need to use it?

An iPhone with iOS 26 or later. Reading photos needs an iPhone with Apple Intelligence on iOS 27; on any other, you type what you ate.

What happens to my data?

Your diary stays on your iPhone. There is no NutrUp account, and no server of ours holds your diary. Read the privacy policy.
